Director of Bands: Jeff Singer
Mr. Jeff Singer has been the Director of Bands in the Potosi R-3 Schools District for 22 years. He is in his 32nd year of teaching having taught for 5 years in DeSoto, 2 years in Warrenton and 3 years in Crystal City before taking over the band program here at Potosi. Under the director of Mr. Singer the Potosi Band has traveled and participated in band festivals all over the United States including performances at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida, The Outback Bowl in Tampa, Florida, A performance at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and 2 performances in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington DC. The Trojan Band has participated in several Bands of America Regional and Super Regionals in St. Louis, MO, Atlanta, Georgia, Oxford, Ohio, San Antonio, Texas and at the 2015 Grand National Championships at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Symphonic Band has earned Exemplary Ratings at State Contest 17 out of 21 years under his direction. In the past 3 years the Potosi Band students have had 51 solos and ensembles perform at the State Solo and Ensemble Contest. The Trojan Band consistently places between 10 – 15 members in the East Central All District Band each year and in the past 21 years the Potosi Band has had 17 Members, Alternates or Honorable Mention students be named to the Missouri All State Band. Mr. Singer’s duties include directing the Potosi Trojan Marching Band, Symphonic and Concert Bands, 8th grade band and several sections of 7th grade beginning band. Mr. Singer has enjoyed his time as band director in Potosi. He is married to Keeli his beautiful wife of 20 years and they have two wonderful children, Dalton (18) and Aubrianne (15).
Assistant Director: Odell Jackson
Mr. Odell Jackson is a 2003 graduate of Potosi High School. Music has always been a passion and he knew instrumental music education was his calling. He graduated from UM-St. Louis in 2017 with a Bachelors degree in Music Education (magna cum laude). This is his first year in education and he is excited to begin his career in his hometown. Mr. Jackson specializes in percussion having studied under the direction of Professor Matt Henry. He has performed in many ensembles which include the University Wind Ensemble, University Jazz Ensemble, University Orchestra, and several jazz combos. Mr. Jackson has also studied a wide variety of world percussion with an emphasis in West African drumming. Under the mentorship of Professor Gary Brandes, Mr. Jackson successfully completed his student teaching at Seckman High School. While at Seckman, he worked with the marching band as a field technician, assistant drumline instructor, and director of the beginning jazz band. Mr. Jackson resides in Potosi with his wife April of 11 years and their three wonderful children, Odie (12), Jaiden (10), and Liana (7).
Color Guard Instructor: Keeli Singer
This is Mrs. Singer’s 19th year as color guard instructor. As a PHS graduate & color guard alumni, she is proud to be a Trojan! She enjoys playing taxi for her daughter and the many activities in which she is involved. Mrs. Singer is highly active in her local church and enjoys teaching Awana classes to elementary children there. Mrs. Singer is the wife of the director, Mr. Singer, and together they have two wonderful children. In the summer of 2018, Mr. and Mrs. Singer celebrated 20 years of marriage by vacationing to the islands of Hawaii.
